All commonwealth countries have High Commissions rather than Embassies in other commonwealth countries as the connection is government to government rather than head of state with head of state. Makes a lot of sense when you consider traditionally they all had the same head of state so Charlie doesnt really need someone from Australia telling him how he feels about matters.NoodleDoodleMan said:Australia doesn't have an embassy in the UK - the Australian High Commission in London would be the "go to" source for advice I assume.
King of UK is no longer the head of state of all commonwealth countries but the tradition continues anyway and it makes more sense generally anyway given for the UK the monarch is more a figurative head of state whilst the prime minister is in reality the day to day leader.0 -
What is flight insurance? I've never heard that term, does it cover the flight being cancelled? It would be fraudulent to say you were staying 2 weeks when you are working there so that's not an option. What visa does she have?2pints said:At this moment it is flight insurance only, assuming she enjoys it over there and stays for the full year or even longer but at this moment it's 12 months with no return flights. Do we purchase normal insurance and say it's for 2 weeks or backpackers for the full year?CheersRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.1 -
Doesn't alter my point - the Australian High Commission in the UK is the place to go for expert guidance on employment legislation in respect on non Australians seeking to work in Oz.MyRealNameToo said:

Didnt say you were wrong, just adding some context as to why there is no embassyNoodleDoodleMan said:

Ok. I just didn't follow why that was relevant.1
