Vovski said:Thanks for the replies, just to add - at the router I am getting 500Mb download speed, but as I said moving 12 feet away it drops to 60Mb !! and upstairs and in kitchen nothing, just wondered if I had grounds for complaint as I'm not getting the service I'm paying for, surely no one sits by the router !!You are getting the service you are paying for. You are paying for an internet connection to your house. You aren't paying for any particular WiFi performance. If you can get the required speed when connected to the router with a cable then as far as the ISP is concerned everything is good. Many things can affect WiFi performance and they are all out of an ISP's control. It could be the router. It could be the receiving device. It could be interference where your WiFi is. It could be what your house is made of. It could be a combination of all or some of those things.

An observation - I've had loads of different modem/routers over the past ~ 20 years - the only fault I've had on several different occasions - is the failure of wifi - usually very similar to the problem here1
