300 for a new bed
Comments

We bought a brand new Super King Divan bed with a super duper mattress last year - definitely not old fashioned. Plus there are only 3 bits to fit together, and the drawers are very handy.
Worth looking for a charity furniture shop - we have a big one near us that sells new and used beds, and you'd expect to buy a new mattress on a second hand bed anyway. Most build at home beds tend to come in very few bits - the 2 ends and the bit in the middle. We have a double where the bit in the middle is supported by 2 sides which are bolted at each end, and the metal frame to support the mattress is in 2 sections. Rubbish description, but the whole thing is only 6 pieces to fit together.1 -
Hi I've had a good look at ikea and for 300 approx I have narrowed to:
Nieden double pine Base £89 or malm white double frame £180
With mattress vestmarka double firm £139.
I ts a which best buy surprisingly and appeared cool and firm.
The vesteroy was even more comfy but has more material on top so would.be warmer and was £199

Well double isn't much more , example the pine frame at ikea is £89 for double and only £14 less for single0

OC is often said to be quite bouncy, can wear out quicker than PS, and may result in a poorer quality of sleep than other mattress types.
I don't think there's much in it between them.0 -

I was looking at beds 2 weeks ago and Divans are still very popular and comprised of about 70% of the showroom, i was surprised because i, too, thought they weren't !0 -
Divans with drawers are very useful! Also stand up to rough and tumble from children/pets as no slats to snap (often cheap, thin wood) or leave lines in mattress when you want to turn it.0

OK cool. Trouble is ikea divan is £365 it's nice but not that nice! Anywhere I could get a divan base for £150ish?0

The divan will most likely be more comfortable, and with the metal frame one you will be banging your shins and stubbing your toes on the corners, unless you are very careful.0
