Outfox Energy and Econ 7 - any pitfalls?

Weighing up my options for switching. After UW (no!) Outfox is next up and much cheaper than my current offering from EDF. Next comes BG. I know BG had problems with switching E7 in the past. I have read all thr threads about Outfox but does anyone have any feedback specifically switching on Economy 7? I have a smart meter. Thanks in advance.

BG's customer service is utterly dire and if something goes wrong they have a habit of deleting all previous bills and reissuing them.  If you haven't downloaded all bills or insisted on paper ones that can make it impossible to correct overcharging.  Avoid !

I really wouldn’t consider BG. For better or worse, I’ve been a customer of EDF for a long time (apart from a brief time with Scottish power/OVO) but I see no real need to stick with them as an electric only home means high winter bills so need a good deal!

UW's off peak price is way less than any other economy 7 supplier. If you have storage heaters that is a huge saving. I will be switching to them when my 10p off peak fix expires next month. Worth it, even if only to stay with them for winter and then switch.

Do you have anything else with UW? I had another property with them (rental) and it was an absolute nightmare to leave them - so much hassle - so that has completely put me off them.

No, I'd only take my electricity with them. Even with just the one product, the savings are massive. Get a quote and see for yourself. I'll be paying my bills via DD one month in arrears so I can't see how they can make it hard to leave them.

I just remember it was a nightmare. The bill as far as I remember was up to date as tenants had left. Even my managing agent said they were the worst they’d come across in over 30 years. MSE comparison said it isn’t competitive with only one service - no gas here so I’d have to switch BB or take a sim I won’t use. Will have another look but once bitten …

You don't need two services to make it viable, definitely not for economy 7 if you have low peak and high off peak usage by having 4 storage heaters. They even now offer a fix for just a single service. Do a quote and I bet no other supplier can even come close for economy 7.

just had a look: high 40.469, low 5.83 and standing charge 49.85.  Outfox: high 27.46, low 11.77, sc 45.73.

It's good on the low but pretty bad on the high,

Yes, as I said, it will depend on low daytime and high nighttime usage. Don't forget nighttime is half the price of the OFTM rate. It works great for me at 1200kWh day and 6000+ night.

That's about my usage but due to WFH this winter so things might change a bit.
