Our incoming supply is near to the middle of the house with the EVSE installed on one corner over 30m away and the installer even threw in special historic building invisible cleats within the standard charge.

Ohme SIM is £2 a month after the third year.

Garage is about 20 meters away so a better extender might be option!  Don't think an ethernet cable would work!  As for new mains cable to garage we shall see.  We do have several things set up in garage ie freezer and garage door- so maybe need to take a look at cable.
You'll almost certainly need a new cable.
What rating is the fuse / MCB for the garage supply in your consumer unit? Is there a separate consumer unit in the garage?

Oh my goodness I have no idea.....all I know is you can actually turn the supply off to the garage as there is a box on wall, however the power runs from the house and couple months back we had to have a new unit installed as we updated the kitchen and power box we already had was not suitable for the ovens.  So we have a Contactum Defender 2.0 comsumer unit installed...and I wouldn't have a clue had I just reached for the leaflet Mr Lecky left.

If you look in the new Contactum consumer unit, there should be a set of MCBs (little "switches") and a legend that tells you which one is connected to which circuit.
One will be labelled as "Garage" or something like it. That one will have a code (most likely a letter B and a number) printed on it. Something like these ones (image from eBay):
Does the one serving the garage say B16, B32 or something different?

The place it is housed is cupboard and low down - I am afraid that I just can't make the codes out - plus there is a row of 10 or 12.

But if we need to ask Lecky sure he will tell us.  In meantime just waiting on being told what car having and when.

    Many thanks

No problems, I'm sure your electrician will know what to do :)

You ay also get a visit by National Grid.  The fuses in my house had to be upgraded.  This is free of charge, but has to be done within a timeline or they will mothball your charger

There are various problems with HOME chargers - one is they have had to reduce the voltage otherwise they can trip out.
I was told two weeks ago of an Eight Year programme to carry out other work due to problems that have come to light and it is not going to be cheap.

Why would a home charger reduce the voltage? And how - I very much doubt that the unit has a transformer in it?

They will reduce the current to avoid overheating, a sensible precaution, though with a properly installed set up (cables of the correct diameter for example) I doubt this would kick in very often.

The voltage in high voltage DC chargers at public charging points does reduce as the battery becomes fuller (usually becomes noticeable after about 80% charge) but that's a different issue.

The latest tolerances for low voltage supplies have only been around since harmonisation with the EU in 1992 so it’s hardly surprising 33 years later some suppliers in the UK are “just getting round to it”.
