What's the ICO got to do with it?
They have a legal responsibility to provide working contact details and process DSARs. There is currently a fault with their system that they don't seem to be fixing. They have, on this page they list their address for you to write to the Data Protection Officer.Does it actually work? The email addresses and website don't.Forcing you to write to a website operator would be against the rules anyway. Needlessly difficult and expensive.Perhaps the more important point here is that the company seems to be defunct. Do they still pay out?How is writing a letter against 'the rules', difficult and expensive? The Company is not defunct...be very careful what you assert. Yes I was paid out last month. So their website is just broken, but they are solvent you think? How do you contact them?
They and MSE are part of the same group of companies, none are insolvent at this point.
Live chat works fine for me, admittedly you have to spend a fair amount time with the bots but it does eventually go through to a real person. Their last filed accounts show £60m revenue, £7.6n EBITDA profit; its therefore much thinner margins than MSE who made £31.1m off of £47.9m of revenue but still very much a profitable firm.
Why are you doing a DSAR? Tracking is done predominately by third party firms like TradeDoubler; if your sale doesnt get tracked it means they too miss out on their commission so its in your mutual interest that sales track but there is a long list of reasons why people dont.pollypenny said:I suspect that it would be hard to find any adult in the country who hasn't yet shopped at Argos.
Personally dont think I have ever bought anything online from Argos and whilst decades ago I have bought from their bricks and mortar shops they'd have no way of tying an online purchase to the fact as a teenager I bought some headphones in store.
Some firms are very lax with their checks and simply checking out as a guest and using a different email address each time is sufficient to not be identified as a retuning customer.0 -

Looks like they fixed it. Maybe they aren't defunct after all.Their AI told me that a human would be in contact in 2 days max. Let's see if anyone still works there.0

I stopped using quidco a few years back when some cashbacks weren't processed/honoured.I simply lost trust in them.1

No doubt that all things being equal, I'd go with TCB over Quidco every time - TCB's tracking is generally a lot better, their payout cycles faster, and the money now hits the bank within a day of being requested - even at weekends. Plus they've done several 'ex-gratia' payments to me where things have got stuck - they clearly take the view that it's easier to just stump up small amounts rather than spend time chasing retailers...1
