Qatar Airways Bumped off connecting flight.

Thank you for reading this, I am looking for advice to see if there is any form of compensation available.
In brief but I can elaborate if required. I booked a return flight directly with Qatar Airways. This was for two adults and a child. The return flights were completed without issue.
Our intended outbound journey was
LGW- DOH 0900-1740
DOH - DXB 1835-2055
We departed LGW late ( waiting for ages to take off. We arrived at Doha at 1750 ( Just 10 minutes behind schedule )
We arrived at the departure whilst boarding was still in progress and open .
I presented our passports and tickets, they checked to book us in. We were informed by check in staff that we had been removed from the flight despite being there on time and prior to the last call.
We were informed that we had been removed as the computer system indicated that we would not arrive at the gate in time.
This flight also departed 28 minutes late.
They were unable to place us on the next two departing flights from DOH - DXB.
We were provided a later flight, after waiting for two hours for Qatar Airways to rearrange everything we were also provided complimentary lounge access until our new departure time.

To confirm we were originally due to arrive at DXB at 2055 hours.
Our actual arrival at DXB was the following day at 0324 Hours.
This is a total arrival delay of 6 hours and 29 minutes at our final destination in DXB.
Any thoughts, advice or rights etc would be greatly appreciated.
I have already contacted Qatar Airways via email, but have not received a response.

You may be entitled to compensation as per EC261. Even though the issue occurred on DOH-DXB (outside UK/EU) the legislation does apply as your journey started in the UK at LGW and is ticketed as one journey.
It might be complicated though. What was the original reason for the delay departing Gatwick? If that was beyond Qatar's control (ATC?) then they may not be liable.
You also did present at the gate for the DOH-DXB although had already been offloaded. This may be because you went below MCT (Minimum Connection Time). Unsure if there's an argument of denied boarding or not.1
