Halifax rewards acc (& other offers coming to an end) - close the account or not?

  • Just going to close our Halifax Reward accounts bar one which will get downgraded. Only really because I've had that account since 2005 and relatives have the payment details. TBH it will be nice to get a break from jumping through hoops for the last couple of decades, lol! Also, with extensive stoozing and bank switching I no longer seem to qualify for new offers so might as well clean up the credit file which looks horrific, lol!

Correct. In October you will be paid the reward you "earned" in September (if you met the reward conditions in September) plus a cumulative payment for the monthly rewards you could have earned for each month from October until (and including) the month when your reward was due to end.
  • Well, today's rewards for August activity have arrived promptly, just as they close that particular offer.

With no more DC payments required any more now, at least I won't risk upsetting Skipton BS, who have been very obliging throughout this whole escapade

For anyone reading, you still need to do the September £500 DC payments to get the reward for September paid next month. No DC payments required from October onwards.
