Now they are going after my wife.

After 2 visits from TV licence enforcers and numerous letters either addressed to the occupier or in my name they are now sending letters addressed to my wife.

This is after being informed that both occupants are over 75 and don't watch live TV.

How much more of TV licence holders money will they waste?

It only matters if you are 75+ and in receipt of pension credit. Perhaps they don't believe (for whatever reason) that you don't watch live tv or bbc iplayer? Have you completed the form to say you don't need a licence? not foolproof and to a requirement but might cut the correspondence.

Probably not what you want to hear, but it is a waste of time trying to reason with BBC/TV Licensing.

The best approach is to ignore them as far as you can, and (importantly) to treat their letters with a massive amount of scepticism.    They contain a lot of threatening half-truths and that applies whether they are addressed to you by name or not.

Or pay the TV licence for a quite life, which is basically their plan

It's like when kids get a no from dad so they go and ask mom in case there's a different answer.

This is the second thread here about mysterious changes to addressing of TVL letters.   It seems like they might have been out splashing the LF-payers cash on commercial databases again.

Yes - it's kind of their hidden plan - annoy as many people as possible in the hope some of them will buy a Licence.

But RESIST!!!  Be that feisty oldster that battles against authority!!!  And have fun doing so too!!!!

I might be tempted to phone them up and ask that they send you a postage paid envelope so you can send them a cheque because you don't do online banking and can't get to the post office to pay that way.  Use your most quavery oldster voice so they believe you are a fragile aged individual still living in the last century.  If and when they send you the prepaid envelope use it to send them all the other nuisance post that you have received this week.

I've done what I can (especially in the past) to discover the legal and practical solutions that BBC/TVL feel obliged to abide by.

But at the OP's stage, there isn't really any better approach than to ignore them.   If the letters are really bothering you, then you can use Cease & Desist to stop them.   The only other thing to do is to use "return to sender" on them, but that works best when they are not addressed by name.
