Water Bill Query

in Water bills
Hi, I know I’m probably on a hiding to nothing but thought I would explain my situation anyway.
I live in a flat built in the 30’s the water supply feeds myself & the flat above so I have been told I can’t have a meter so have been paying for my water based on the RV. I am paying £100 a month & just accepted it but talking to a neighbour who has a flat in the next block & no meter either only pays £50 a month. I tried to query it with TW & they told me it is what it is & that it was the council that set the RV & even if the flats were exactly the same they could have different RV’s & there was nothing they could do about it. Is this correct?

Yes and no.Rateable value is what it is; it was last assessed in the 1970s and there are no plans to review it.But, instead of paying based on RV, you can ask for an assessed charge. This might work out cheaper.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill Coop member.Ofgem cap table, Ofgem cap explainer. Thank you for your reply. As I said I have spoken to TW & was told there was nothing they could do but I will try again.0

You didn't mention anything about requesting an assessed charge. Here's their webpage that explains them:N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Sorry, I must have worded it badly but thanks again for your help. I will raise the reassessment request online rather than talking to them again.1

We were due to pay £100 a month based on our rateable value, but we asked for a meter fitted in March (moved in August last year). When we did, our water company agreed to put us on an assessed charge until the meter was fitted and we could be charged on the meter readings. They also told us that we'd only be charged the assessed amount if the meter couldn't be fitted. The assessed charge is based on the number of people living in the house and ours would have been £54 a month (Yorkshire).0

i was paying for my water bill by monthly direct debit and i noticed in my banking app under credit score it said debt £500 to Yorkshire water my water account didn’t mention any debt, I’ve changed from monthly to annual payments and I’m paying up front by standing order Barclay refused credit for a mobile phone, I’m not sure if it was because of this..
