Sign up scam ? Or not

I just had a phone call from a claim company about the overcharge on car finance . I told her that I had sent my claims in over 15 months ago but she says that the claim runs out every 6 months ,I told her I get an email every month or so saying it’s being looked at but she was adamant . Same company did a pcp for me she said and she had my details except my email so I gave her it’s she wanted to send an email for me to sign a letter of authorisation . Is this a scam as why do the companies keep saying it’s getting sorted and have been given more time to sort it? I did it on the link from this site.

Claims dont run out after 6 months so thats simply a lie. All complaints from January last year onwards are on hold whilst the FCA decide what its going to do about the whole mess.

They are simply trying to get you to agree to them representing you, potentially also them being your tax agent, because it will entitle them to a success fee even if you DIY it without cancelling it and if you do cancel after signing up you'll have fees to pay.

You say you "sent my claims in over 15 months ago". Was this to My Car Group?

If not, this sounds like a rogue claims company trying to get you to sign up to them to handle your claim.

If so, it could still be another company with a very similar sounding name, or even using the same name on the phone, getting you to sign up, and then the paperwork would come through with a different name.

    This: "
she said and she had my details except my email so I gave her it’s she wanted to send an email for me to sign a letter of authorisation" makes me believe one of those two are the case. They were fishing.

You don't want to be in a position where you've signed up to 2 different claims companies.

(I'd say you don't even need to sign up to one, but if you've done so already, I suspect its too late).

Your mistake here was not just hanging up immediately, do not engage with cold call scammers

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
