Barclaycard Amazon joke

Recently applied for the amazon barclaycard, simply to get the free £20 credit on amazon. The credit came through really quick, the card came a few days later. It tells me i have to register it on the barclays app, which i try and do but it always hangs with an error message. I phone barclays and they try various things and then call me back to say that there is already a profile for me, different address.  It turns out the old profile is at my old address and hasnt been used for over 12 years and the account is now closed.  I have this confirmed and they say i have to delete the old profile, fine , go ahead.  No, they say i have to go to a branch to do it. I say that is very inconvenient and i wont be able to as im fairly housebound.  Long and short i told them to cancel the account as im not that bothered now, i only did it for the amazon voucher.  The young lady in the call centre was quite apologetic but said she would make an appointment for me at a branch. i told her not to bother.    As the £20 is sitting in my amazon account im about to use it then destoy the card, which incidentally isnt regestered on my amazon account either.
rant over , just a load of nonsence, if they want their £20 back i will tell them they have to make an appointment and come and see me for it.

It's not unique to Barclays that there is a single customer view and it prohibits creation of a second log in for the same person.

When it happened to me was easy enough to resurrect the old profile and add the new account to it. I didnt explore the mechanism to delete the old profile as it wasnt necessary.

Similar happened to me when Amazon first introduced the £20 credit on opening a Barclaycard through them. I can't remember exactly what the problem was, but I did receive the £20 credit to my Amazon account.
I vaguely remember it was something about account verification.
I spent the £20 and didn't progress further with Barclaycard.

Maybe I'm missing sometime in the storyline - but if you've had the £20 from Amazon Barclaycard - why are you wondering why you can't apply for same again to receive another £20 ?
Or is it that Amazon won't allow you to use "their" Barclaycard now to place a further order(s) ?

yes, i think you are missing something in the storyline. The whle point was why i couldnt use the card despite being approved but unable to regester the app. The £20 amazon voucher was irrelevant, that had been recieved and spent.   The final point i was making that with my last order ( after the one i used the voucher), it was inviting me to apply again, and recieve another voucher. I havnt tried it yet but was wondering if their bad system would pick up on this or not.
