Manchester airport drop off fine

I’ve been reading through the threads trying to find a solution that fits with my query but I can’t, please help me 

I picked up my daughter from Manchester airport T2 in May, it was 2.30 am I was driving round looking for her and drove on the drop off/pick up road (by accident) as she wasn’t there. I thought I would have to pay to exit but the barriers were gone. Completely forgot about it….
then on the 25th July I received a letter from a debt recovery company asking me to pay £170, I sent them an email explaining I hadn’t had the original fine. Didn’t hear anything, got another letter so I phoned them (I know know I shouldn’t have after reading posts on here) 
I explained I was the driver and I would pay the original fine but they said the only option was to pay the £170, I argued this wasn’t fair as I’d not had the original fine (log book is up to date ?) 

my question is, where do I stand now? I was going to write to Manchester airport and ask for the fine to be cancelled as I’d read on here that was an option but just wanted to check. 

The last I heard from the debt collectors was they were passing it back to Apcoa and recommending they take me to court

Ignore debt recovery agents, they are powerless and can't enforce anything; all they can do is send silly letters. APCOA won't do anything either, they never do, so ignore them too. 

The reason people don't receive a first letter is that their V5C (logbook) isn't up to date with their current address. APCOA will have accessed your data from the DVLA and written to the address supplied by the DVLA. The debt recovery firm would likely have run a trace on your name, especially if there had been no prior correspondence from you with APCOA. Please check your V5C, as having an out of date address is serious and could expose you to a DVLA fine of £1,000.

Do nothing,  ignore the powerless debt collectors,  no more contact,  no more admissions,  no paying either

I’ve checked my log book and it has the correct address so I’ve no idea why I didn’t get the original fine. I’ll not do anything else then.

Definitely not a fine,  Apcoa dont issue fines,  magistrates issue them, but not for these cases

Come back to this thread if you ever receive a Letter of Claim giving you days notice or a court claim,  but we dont expect you to receive either,  just powerless debt collectors letters   ( those debt collectors lied to you,  there is the option of non payment,  as well as foolishly paying their powerless demand for £170  )

It is strange that the Apcoa letters didn't arrive,  or did arrive but weren't seen   )
