CCJ Received - Still withing 30 days

HelIo, so I completely missed the initial letter from the court.

A judgement order has been made on the 12 of August.  So my question is do I just go ahead and pay it, I don't believe I have a valid reason for it to be set aside, what am I going to say, I recieved the letter but somehow it got buried in with the junk mail and was missed.

Extremely frustrating as the fine was from 2022, at the time I received letters from debt collectors but then they stopped.   Debt collection letters started again this year and I knew they were going to go ahead and take me to court so I had in my mind to keep an eye out for the letter, and follow the advice from here but it still got missed.  Any advice appreciated, many thanks.  Parked over the time limit in car park, I think it would have been a few minutes between 5-10min, claimant is euro car parks.

Parked over the free time, or parked over paid for time? Are you sure it was under ten minutes?

Pretty sure it was parked over free time (the same car park has since introduced pay at meter) and both myself and partner have checked neither of us paid for parking on the day so think it was free at the time.

No not 100% sure it was under ten minutes.

I have had two fines for the same car park, I think the first I didn't realise there was a limit and from memory I was over by 26 or so minutes and the other time my partner overstayed by a 10/12 minutes.

It's such a shame but as you have a CCJ that's within the 30 days, and a lack of compelling defence, I'm afraid I think you must pay.

    Now get your own back:

PLEASE bookmark this thread below and do the government's Public Consultation if you haven't done it yet. Their proposals are wrong. We must stop them.

    See this thread: -

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6617396/parking-code-of-practice-consultation-8-weeks-from-11th-july-2025/p1

We need every poster to come back & complete this vital Consultation before the deadline! Just 2 weeks left but please don't rush it. You can do some then save it and come back to it as you have time.

We understand that you may need some pointers. It looks laborious, we get that.

So to try to help, I've written some guidance on that thread.

Any questions on the Consultation please ask - on the dedicated thread - but I've covered up to question 20 already in that first post, openly telling everyone what I'm going to put and/or what sort of evidence you might wish to use for your response, if you agree with what we'll be saying from our experience.

Whilst your answers must of course be your own, there are vital points to safeguard motorists interests to make so we are offering guidance and pointers.

However, people like you have lived & breathed the intimidation, greed and unfairness first hand so your voice is needed!

Thanks coupon-mad, I thought that would be the case.  Very annoyed at myself for missing the letter.

Hi so I've found out that it was free to park at the time of the fine, does that make any difference?  You asked above not sure if it makes much difference to my case.
