Are you not grateful that NatWest are using the latest biometric security measures in order to make access to your money even more secure?
Hopefully you're pulling my leg. They already have my fingerprint. What more would they need? If I fall for something and someone gets access to my money, that's my problem.
The bank doesn't have your fingerprint, that's on your device. Taking a moving picture/video within the app is definitely a more robust approach. For me NatWest and RBS only rarely ask me to do it e.g., when setting up a new payee.

Says everybody until their bank account gets emptied by a dodgy car park QR code........
Which is still could with facial recognition!
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

The apps that I have used offer the option of using a PIN if the finger print test fails. People commonly store those with their mobile phone.

Never had any repeatable success with fingerprint log ins.
And I've found that the quality of video/photo required by some banks is too great for cheaper phones For instance we couldn't get a successful log in on my wife's Honor 8 for Trading 212 account set up.
Won't be long before the banks insist on the latest Apple or Samsung products to use their apps !!

The 'face verification' in the NatWest and RBS apps is a step beyond using a PIN or fingerprint/faceID for logging in - these apps have these as well for logging in.

Barclays was considering that a few years back as so many people were having trouble using the app because their phones were too simple or old.
