NatWest app needing face verification

Hi,
The NatWest app now asks for face verification now for a lot of mundane things - not sure if anyone else noticed a change.
Logging into online banking via browser? Let's verify it's you, even though you've logged in using this browser fingerprint + IP address before, and you got both your password and your PIN correct the first time.
Sending a payment? Let's verify it's you, even though we have your biometric (fingerprint) data already.
Paying for something? Let's verify it's you, and no, you can't just log in and click a button on the app anymore - oh no, even with all the advances in cybersecurity, we still need to verify it's you.
What changed? Before it was just passcodes and buttons. Was this a recent update or something that was gradually rolled out?

No biometrics on the mobile app here.
Web login from a PC sometimes asks for a PIN sent via app notification (which you can force to SMS by saying you didn't receive the code).
Did you enable biometrics on your phone?

Are you not grateful that NatWest are using the latest biometric security measures in order to make access to your money even more secure?Trek98 said:Hi,

Do you have biometric access set on a) on your phone b) on the NatWest app?0 -
I do think its become more frequent but its very quick in that there's no delay in the scan/approval so don't see it as a big issue. The banks are on the hook for scams now so I guess that's the reason it's over tightening now.2

Feels like the app got stricter with checks after a recent update. Bit annoying when you’re just trying to do simple stuff, but I guess they’re pushing the face scan as the main security step now. Probably their way of cutting down fraud, even if it makes everything slower.1

Only happened a handful of times for me and each time it's been something big - transferring housse deposit and conveyancing fees for example. I've been impressed that it recognises me as me each time. I've not got fingerprint recognition set up because that rarely worked when I had it turned on for other things0

Hopefully you're pulling my leg. They already have my fingerprint. What more would they need? If I fall for something and someone gets access to my money, that's my problem. Are you not grateful that NatWest are using the latest biometric security measures in order to make access to your money even more secure?

I know how it works thanks, and it has nothing to do with gait, I'm still impressed how reliable it is.0

But many people hold the bank responsible when they click on links, fall for social media scams etc. and want their money refunded by the bank.Trek98 said:

It's hardly surprising that the bank wants more verification - perhaps it will make people stop and think before they make an expensive mistake2 -
Says everybody until their bank account gets emptied by a dodgy car park QR code........Trek98 said:
