Well that was a damp squib!

... The one's I shared were not internal use only.....they were received in comms between myself and that person, and as such don't see why one could not directly approach them in their specific roles.

    Hi again

If a person is happy/allowed to be contacted by the public, it'll usually be mentioned on their website in a place where you can link to it. We can't confirm that for other email addresses the person wants their name or email address publicly posted.

Just as an example from here at MSE, The only way to contact the forum team is to email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com so that your email is logged and can be found easily in the future - both just for reference, and also for all the ways companies are required to handle data. Even if you PM us, we'll usually to tell you to email that address for those reasons.

    Thanks @MSE_Stephen

Don't get me wrong, I entirely agree and wasn't wearing my GDPR hat at the time - to @Gr1pr and @Castle 's points there should be a mandatory contact at those companies for day to day enquiries, appeals (maybe), and customer care/complaints, and of course the DPOs (some of these are already in the code just not adhered to by all).

Thanks for keeping us in line :)

I had to walk away, calm down and come back and my reaction has gone from "why should I bother any more?" to "just let it go" to "my reasons why I am annoyed".  It has taken years to collect all those email addresses, mostly from diligently visiting each parking company's policy pages on their web sites but also whenever a poster had found the info from elsewhere.  If an email address can be found on a company's web site or policy pages, surely it is in the public domain; all I and others have done is collate what it already available.  We try to help posters and, in my opinion we were doing just that.  I don't think I have the enthusiasm for doing what @MSE_Stephen is suggesting and go back and find the source.  The jury is out on whether I continue or not.
:) I get it, as you can see that was my reaction to a small list, yours was very refined and large over time.

Sadly, and I went away and looked into this, if an email has been received directly from a person's email address (for example a lady from DCB legal) it has a useful disclaimer on it that means it is confidential and for the purposes of that interaction. It is actually a breach of law to share those more widely.

But...I fully support the point you are making about in the public domain, if it's findable, in my humble opinion it's fair game. And personally, I'm not sure that restricted to just company pages (as you've done a lot of scouring). - for example the CEO of NPC has blasted his email over a few 'promo' pieces or newspapers in the past...so is outed in terms of his email.

Frustrating that we cannot call these guys to account though in this way, as my experience of talking directly to some of these folk yields better results on occasion. sigh
