Geneva car hire

Me & my wife are heading to Geneva for a few days over Christmas & hoping to hire a car, any recommendations?
Google reviews all seem to show problems after car dropped off for most reviewers.
Won't be driving into Geneva (as heard its not fun) but want to head into the mountains for some stunning views 🤞
Thanks in advance ☺️

Hi. Geneva is one of those places that is split across two countries (France and Switzerland) so you can hire a car from either the Swiss side or the French side.
I haven't done it for a few years but the last time I did it was considerably cheaper to hire from the French side, so do some searches on booking.com or other comparison sites as well as the actual companies themselves as comparison sites aren't always cheaper.
My advice (and this is universal for car hire) is don't go with the cheapo car hire companies like Goldcar etc, but pay a little extra for Avis/Budget/Enterprise etc. Practically every single complaint on here about car hire is from people who have gone with the cheapest company on Kayak or similar.
I quite often hire cars through BA as they use Avis/Budget and give you a free extra driver and the prices are usually competitive. You don't need to book/have booked a flight.

I don't have any specific advice for Geneva, but I would recommend using a car rental comparison site. Personally I like booking.com and rental cars.com
You can get yourself some extra cashback by going through Top Cashback or Quidco
Also echo the above poster, avoid cheap companies like Goldcar, Green Motion, etc. Stick with well known brands: Hertz / Dollar / Thrifty, Europcar / Keddy, Avis / Budget, Enterprise / Alamo, Sixt.
Also, get yourself car hire excess insurance through Money Maxim.
You can't go wrong if do all this.0
