DBCL Smart Parking Ltd - Moved house help

Hi, I'm new here so if this isn't allowed please direct me to where I need to be. I have read the newbie post and I'm still a tad confused.

Long story short my partner has a parking fine from Smart Parking UK Ltd (the standard £170 one) which we never received as she never updated her V5C until recent (wrong I know)

The date of contravention is March 2024 and overstayed the free time. I have seen in post 4 of the newbie thread to send an email to the DPO and ask them to erase the old address, is there a template for this or any do's/don'ts?

Where should I then proceed from there as I'd have thought contacting them is a sort of acknowledgement but as stated I fairly clueless about this situation

Thanks in advance

There are Data Rectification Notice templates online, via Google, so use one to let the DPO at Smart parking and CC in DCBL too , doing so as the Registered Keeper,  ideally attaching a copy of the updated V5c

You contact them because you dont want future paperwork or a court claim going to an old address, because you wont like it if they obtained a default Judgment,  much harder to unravel

Do not reveal who was driving

Do not discuss the pcn or incident

Thanks for the reply, will do this.

Is the next step then simply ignore?

    See the newbies sticky thread

The step after the DRN is ignore the powerless debt collectors letters

But do not ignore a formal Letter of Claim giving you 30 days notice,  or a court claim

Ignore debt letters. Look out for the 30 day notice Letter of/before Claim see Post 2 Small Claim in NEWBIES

    Definitely get that address rectified.

You must! Then stick around because this month, we need you: PLEASE bookmark this thread below and do Public Consultation if you haven't done it yet. See this thread: -

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6617396/parking-code-of-practice-consultation-8-weeks-from-11th-july-2025/p1

We need every poster to come back & complete this vital Consultation before the deadline! Just 2 weeks left but please don't rush it. You can do some then save it and come back to it as you have time.

We understand that you may need some pointers. It looks laborious, we get that.

Any questions on the Consultation please ask - on the dedicated thread - but I've covered up to question 20 already in that first post, openly telling everyone what I'm going to put and/or what sort of evidence you might wish to use for your response, if you agree with what we'll be saying from our experience.

Whilst your answers must of course be your own, there are vital points to safeguard motorists interests to make, that many people may not think of without our guidance because we see cases every day and we know the legal background. However, people like you have lived & breathed the intimidation, greed and unfairness first hand so your voice is needed!
