PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. 1 - the seller; and
2 - the mortgage company (if you need one that is)
Your ability to influence them is slim and none, respectively.0 -
Lenders won't lend on a property unless the are confident they'll get their money back if you don't pay your mortgage, so will always build a margin against what a house is worth and what you are borrowing. So in reality, they do tell you what it's worth.
Between the 2 houses, it would be a tough choice for me so probably equal value. A detached would be brilliant, but living on a quiet street is great when you've experienced a busy road. I like a big garden as well.0 -
