Free TV Licence for all Pensioners?

Did I just .imagine it or did I really hear on the news on the radio that all pensioners were to start getting a free TV Licence?

I think you might have heard that news item a few decades ago. I think I heard it too but it was so long ago I can't remember0

No, sadly not. You have to be on pension credit etc. for it to be free. There were some articles on the web saying it was going to be free to all over 75s but it looks like they turned out to be rubbish.
Pay your taxes, save your money and work hard and pay£169 a year. Don't work at all, don't pay your taxes, don't save your money and you get it for free.0 -
I believe someone has started a petition to campaign for free tv licences.
Personally, I hope it goes nowhere as it would mean many people of pension age would qualify who can easily afford the licence and, some might argue, have more time to watch television and get their moneys worth than younger people.0 -
