Do I need proof of age to get a Three SIM to use with PAYG bundles?

I have never been asked my age when I buy a SIM1

Just checked the Three site for the free PAYG SIM order form - states that they'll only supply to over 18's and asks for DoB - but doesn't ask for evidence of this. Can't remember if there's another check when you activate the SIM.
Can't imagine that there's any checking if you pick up a Three SIM at a supermarket, but those SIMs generally include prepayment for a "Data Pack" and I bet you need to register and declare over 18 to activate the thing online.
Further, if you were planning to use the mobile number as "proof of age", this uses the network's "nanny filter" which will be set to "on" by default. To get it set to "grown-up" you will need to provide proof of over-18-ness (photo Id or a credit card number) to Three.3 -
I recently went into a Three shop and collected a SIM. I didn't have any ID on me at the time but I didn't need to show anything.0
