Nothing specific, my partner has the similar 5600 cpu in a laptop, and my (older) Acer w/ an Intel i5 is a bit faster (albeit being 11th gen quad core). Could be due to any number of other factors tho'.

The Very free credit deal? I'm sure you're on top of this, but make sure you pay that off on time, their interest rates would make your nose bleed.

Can you come back please and give your impressions of this machine? Completely coincidentally a relative has asked me for buying suggestions for a new laptop with about this budget/spec.

Yeah, it was the Very Pay credit deal.....but i still paid up front anyway.

I will let you know what i think of it for sure, but can only really compare it to my old Pavilion G6 performance, which has been fine for me actually since i upgraded the Ram to 8gb and changed the original hard drive to a 250SSD a few years ago. 

Not due for delivery until next Saturday, so sometime the following week i'll get back with my views.

Well done. That sounds like a cracking deal. We’re also having a look at acers now on very, specifically the aspire 5. With that cash back deal their prices are an absolute bargain (and would also just be paying up front).
