New Car Battery

I'm on a quest for a new car battery for my 1997 Nissan Almera. I've been quoted £62.99 at Nationwide Autocentres which I think is a bit steep.
Any sites like mytyres.co.uk for tyres except for batteries??

www.batmanuk.com has a battery for an Almera petrol listed at £47.59 delivered - but you'd have to fit it yourself. Battery has 3yr warrantyPeople are more important than things0

If you want to keep the car, Unipart give you a lifetime warranty - all the time you own the car, if it fails, they replace it!
Otherwise, your local car part dealer - wherever the trade go, ask them.
You'll be offered one battery with 3 prices - it's the SAME battery, non branded, but with option of 1, 2 or 3 year warranty!!
Then you decide, which is best for you!!
Make sure your old one gets scrapped at the tdy tip, or left with the dealer. Not in the trash, at home!!

Thanks for that, but I've never heard of Unipart in my life!
Had a look at their website but nothing much on there. What are their prices like?0 -

costco is a trade outlet-wholesalers but you have to have there trade card to be able to shop there.
and i cant say that iv heard of a lifetime guarantee from unipart either!

no costco or unipart in my area but halfords quoted £49.99 for a standard battery with a 3 yr guarantee, but £59.99 for a "Calcium Battery" which is apparently better at 'storing charge'.
They charge just £4.99 for fitting but does anyone have any comments about this calcium battety or whether there are cheaper places to go?0 -

a calcium battery is better if you DONT drive much or your car is an automatic or if you have a lot of electrics in your car....like in car entertainment systems.
unlike lead batteries, calcium batteries have a longer lifeline and they are more powerful batteries(heavy duty).
but, crazychemist, you've got to consider, are you planning to sell the car within the next 6months to a year or so?...reason being, if you are, you may want to reconsider whether or not you want to pay an extra £10 for the extra years guarantee and the heavyduty battery.
hope this helps in making your decision!

£4.99 to change a battery!! It only takes 2 minutes to do that.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
F U Fund currently at £2500 -
thanks for that skiddy
I'm going to try and get Kwik Fit to do a price match but I'm not too sure whether the battery needs replacing. The car is a 1997 (P) reg and the battery hasn't been replaced since new.
The only reason it failed on me the other day is because I was sitting in the hot sun outside a rail station waiting for a passenger to arrive. I waited for just over an hour with the fan setting on 3, so that's what's caused it
Do you think the battery will recover? It seems perfectly ok to start the car now but as I only do city driving mostly, it probably won't get the full recharg it needs :rolleyes:0
