jet2, easyjet or ryanair?

i am about to book my flights for my summer holiday and wondered what your opinions were. i have flown with jet2 twice before but ryanair are flying from manchester this year and are very so slightly cheaper (not much about £6 per person) so does anyone have any preference either way? i have flown with easyjet but they only fly to nice from liverpool so it is further away for me but i do think they are quite trustworthy and they are baout the same price.

if you had to choose, which would you go for?
ok i went and worked out the prices, easyjet is quite abit more for the three of us

for 3 people:

jet2: £207
ryanair:£186
easyjet:£250

Having flown all of these airlines on dozens of occasions I'd opt for the cheapest or the one with a departure and return time which suits better.

thank you, so you haven't had any horror stories from any of them. i have flown with easyjet a few years ago and recently i have flown with jet 2 but never with ryan air, but i keep seeing stories about ryanair which puts me off slightly. then again people are more likely to post bad experinces rather than good ones arent they aparently they are quite rigid on specific rules, dont want to get to the airport and find out i cant fly cos of some loophole or something. i think i might pay £15 more and fly with jet2 and stick to what i know.

Personally, no horror stories with any airline, but I would class myself a seasoned very savvy traveller and therefore do not leave myself open to problems. Having said that sometimes you can just be unlucky or unfortunate.

EVERY airline, no matter how well respected/operated will at some time have problems.
Some people who use these forums are very anti particular airlines, sometimes justified, sometimes not. A lot just jump on the bandwagon, but you're spot on about people reporting bad experiences over good.
Ryanair is knocked frequently because people don't like the ethics behind them, but they have one of the best safety records and are one of the most punctual airlines operating one of the most modern aircraft fleets in the world and the cheapest in most cases. Certainley better than Jet 2 on those latter points. Ryanair are possibly less relaxed on baggage rules, but all the info you need on the website is there to be read before booking so thers no point playing dumb after the event.

thank you ever so much. i am so very drawn to ryanair, they are cheaper and they are on the dates i want to go and come back.

i also have never had any problems with either jet2 or easyjet and i try to stick to their rules as closely as possible , i have just been reading through the terms and conditions on ryanairs website and i think i am just a little apprehensive as i know jet2 and easyjet, but i think i might take the plunge with ryanair.

If its a 2 week holiday you're planning, you'll be doing very well to pack with Ryanair's 15kg limit. They know this very well that's why they only give you 15kg and will quite happily stuff it to you at the airport. Check out the charter carriers for deals too before you decide. Easyjet are now flying from MAN next summer too.

with ryanair you get 15kg of checked in luggage and 10kg of hand luggage, should be enough for 2 weeks

luckily we are going to stay with my mum so i can send a bag of clothes with her when she goes in june anyway so that isnt much of a problem and they allow you 10kg each in cabin so we can shove quite abit in their. i always take too much anyway. what more do you need than a few bikinis and a coupe of t-shirts ( a couple i mean , obviously not a coupe i cant fit a car in my bag!)? lol .... oh and clean underwear as well!

on another note.... does anyone know if you do online booking for your flight out, what happens for your flight home? do you have to try and find a computer on your holiday to print off another boarding card? do you get both ways when you book in on the way out, or does it not count on the way back... do you have to check in at the airport?

Online Booking confirmations otherwise known as E-ticketing provide details of the outbound and inbound leg under one reference number, known as the locator number providing you book both legs together. If you book them seperatley you'll have two reference numbers.....XDETRE is an example of a locator reference.
You don't need to find any computers unless you want to change your booking, BUT that is not adviseable with any lo-cost airline as it can be quite expensive.
In reality you only need this reference and official ID to check-in (both ways) and fly, though it is best to carry a copy of your confirmation with you in case of any problems and to remind you of the departure times.

Guess you mean online check in? You can only check in 2 days before your flight, so yes you would need to find a computer and printer in the last couple of days of your holiday to print out boarding cards for your return flight.

Also bear in mind you can only do online check-in if you are taking HAND LUGGAGE ONLY. If you are taking bags to go in the aircraft hold, you MUST check-in at the airport and Ryanair will charge you for the bag, and for the privelege of checking in at the airport. If booked online the bag is £5 each way and the airport check-in £2, so £7 each way. If the bag is not booked online, and you just turn up, the fee is £10 each way, with the airport check-in again £2, so £12. Something to consider before choosing your flights.

Jet2 again charge £5 ber bag each way if booked with the flight, or £10 at the airport. They don't charge you to check in at the airport though. Easyjet charge £3.99 for bags booked online and £8 at the airport.

Better the devil you know, perhaps check the flights with Jet2 and their terms and conditions and go with them.
