Another thing for the appeal -- probably worth nothing, but I'll mention it -- is that I'm charged with a "code 34J - being in a bus lane (camera) (as defined in the Traffic Management Act 2004)".  But it was not a bus lane; there is no bus lane.  A more appropriate contravention would be a "code 33 - using a route restricted to certain vehicles".  And these codes are not defined in the Act.  I found them in an annex to some statutory guidance document, but not in the Act or any of its Schedules.  People running things like this should have better attention to detail.

Why hasn't anyone suggested this OP posts on FTLA forum, where the council sign experts mainly are? They'll say whether that sign is compliant or not, in ten minutes flat.
