How accurate does my address history need to be?

Are there likely to be issues with verification if I can't pinpoint the exact date I moved into/out of a property?

Address history generally won't be a significant issue beyond about three years, so if you're referring to an old move it shouldn't matter.

If you're concerned about providing dates to a prospective lender then you could always check the history shown on your credit files first?

@eskbanker I'm trying to register with a CRA in order to view my credit files, which requires my full address history. Previously registered with a different CRA, but have lost my login details so can no longer access that account. Is that going to cause problems?

Not the exact date no but a reasonable level of precision is needed. Ultimately they can only go by the dates you told financial institutions and if like me you've technically had two addresses at the same time for a period they may not all be reporting identical dates anyway.

Isn't there some sort of 'forgotten login details' option for the one you've lost?  And there are three CRAs, so perhaps register with the third?

There are also non-CRAs who also offer access to certain CRA data like MSE and ClearScore

@eskbanker I've lost access to the email address I believe is the one I used to sign up originally, and without that there's no way to recover the account.

My issue now is that I have no way of accurately confirming the dates on which I moved into/out of my previous addresses (no bills, no tenancy contracts, no email records - I've checked) which, as I understand it, could cause problems getting verified with a new CRA. My memory only takes me so far these days, so I'm not really sure where to go from here.

You could perhaps submit a Subject Access Request, after which they're obliged to disclose your personal data?  You would obviously have to satisfy them that you're the right person but that ought not to entail full address history....

@MyRealNameToo Can you elaborate on that? I've never heard of ClearScore.

@eskbanker I'll have to do some research into that. Thanks.

What do you want elaborating that you can't see from their website? https://www.clearscore.com/

They, like MSE, have done a deal with a CRA which gives them access to your CRA record which they then display to you. MSE is short term access, last time I checked, whereas Clearscore is long term access but you will get lots of emails about loans and credit cards they say you are likely to be legible for which is how they generate their revenue as a credit broker.
