Shawbrook ISAs - poor registration experience makes it hard to trust them

Out of curiosity, which bank were you trying to send from? It seems entirely self-defeating for a company to provide a payee validation service if the impression created is the exact opposite of that intended, so I wonder if this is just an issue with one bank's flawed processing of the CoP responses rather than a widespread one....
I was sending from a Smile account. Here is what Shawbrook's help says:We're not part of the confirmation of payee scheme, so your bank may tell you this when you try and make a payment. It's nothing to worry about.
I don't find that reassuring - surely this is the place to say "you may see SurePay BV" but I'm not writing their documentation for them and I'm past caring. This episode has lost them two customers because my wife is taking out an ISA too.
Thanks again for everyone's input.0 -
I may be clutching at straws but Coventry BS uses Surepay for confirmation of payee. Coventry has recently agreed to take over Co-operative Bank, who launched Smile as a digital bank in 1999.basschucker said:Out of curiosity, which bank were you trying to send from? Shawbrook isn't mentioned on the Surepay page so I'm thinking it may be this new Coventry BS link that is using this service to check the confirmation of payee.
Just a thought, though may not be correct.1 -
Institutions like Shawbrook weren't part of the initial CoP rollout but are obliged to comply in the second phase - I presume that they've chosen to use a third party service provider to keep costs down, but neglected to update their help pages. I don't know who you're planning to save with instead but if it's another tier two provider then you might find something similar, although maybe with better communication skills....basschucker said:
