Smart meter goes dumb after two years

The supplier (or their data collector) will usually run two of these daily, to get the midnight index snapshot and the 48 half-hourly figures as appropriate. The supplier can also request real-time index readings, manually or scheduled. I think OVO use a scheduled poll of the reading indices weekly to decide how to adjust my future annual consumption figure to change the recommended monthly Direct Debit. This reading may also be submitted to Elexon with a view to updating the EAC, used for example by potential new suppliers and comparison sites. The requests will I suspect be identical, one sort automated and the other manual.

EV owners (like myself) are heavily dependent on having a smart meter that can supply half-hourly readings so they can use a cheap charging rate. On an EV forum I found a discussion about the type of problem I am experiencing and one person suggested that too many requests to the DCC for data can cause a problem when there is a weak LRR signal. The explanation given is that there is a very long (2 hour?) timeout with LRR so you can end up with a queue of unfulfilled commands. It sounds just about credible.
I had used the Loop app to view my recent data and also n3rgy.com to download the readings but the n3rgy access stopped when Hugo was no longer free. So then I signed up with Bright/Glowmarkt but their data format is not so convenient. Then I discovered that if I signed up with an app called Equiwatt I could use n3rgy again so I did that on 18th July. I got the half-hourly data from n3rgy from 18th to 20th July then all communication stopped. So it does seem possible I overloaded my meter with requests.
Yesterday I revoked all permissions for third parties to recover my meter data so I will see if that makes any difference.
I also found an consumer contact form for the DCC here https://www.smartdcc.co.uk/contact-us-form-energy-consumers/ so I used that to request that they try to help. I'll report back if any progress is made.Reed2
