Garage or Conservatory?

What is more appealing to a buyer these days, a standalone converted garage with drive, a usable fully working garage for a car with drive or a conservatory? Which would add more value...

What is your preference?

    Garage everytime.

But a proper sun room would top a garage.

Interesting, so a connected garage for a car or a standalone garage for a car?

Either though i suppose it really depends on the layout of the property.

A garage is a must have for our next home, along with a down stairs loo which seems harder to find.

I'd prefer a detached garage but my budget may not allow me to be too fussy

We have both.  However I am astonished at how few people in our area do not use the garage for their cars during winter.  Even those who have huge houses.

    Personal preference:
    1. Working garage
    2. Converted garage
Conservatory actively puts me off (we have one at the moment, it was the compromise in order to buy on this particular street)

As a general population,  I suspect the converted garage may be more popular but depends on the demographics of the buyers.

I see more and more garages just used as storage for crap and the benefit of using it with a car during winter (and even the summer heat!) never utilised....hence the question of what in general is actually beneficial/popular
  • Everyone I know with a garage has converted it, no one uses them for parking (maybe if your in a big city like London with no street parking it might be different but up here in the north in towns/villages everyone uses the street or a driveway if they have one, too awkward squeezing into a garage).

We just bought a house with garage, its currently just storage but we will be converting it. We just park on the street like everyone else, much quicker and easier.

Modern cars tend not to rust to pieces after the first rain shower, so the need to keep them under cover is less than it once was.

Summer heat is more of an issue... but that's what aircon is for.

(I do park in the shade where I can though)
