Is this something she should call up Vodafone about? Would they have the right techie department?
You said in your opening post that other devices, including phone and work laptop, all work? If that's the case, it sounds more like a problem with her laptop than with the new router.
Can you / she connect the old router as an access point via an ethernet cable to the new one, then see if the laptop will connect to that?

Yes, that's correct. But if it's an incompatibility issue with this particular laptop, they should be aware of the potential and have solutions.

How old is her laptop? I'm wondering if it's a WPA3-related compatibility issue.
Old. I'm guessing around 8 years.
Does that issue refer to the WiFi card used?

Is the router broadcasting a SSID on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz? An older laptop WiFi may only work on 2.4Ghz
    Oh, good point.
That can be accessed via 192.168.0.1?

The other issue I had when using a new router recently supplied by Plusnet, was that some of the older devices in the house, capable of using the 2.4GHz band,  didn't like the dual band set up.
The older router I'd been using allowed the bands to be separated with different names.
I've had to switch off the 5GHz signal completely then everything connects OK. As I'm only getting ~ 70 Mb d/load speeds this isn't an issue with restricted throughputs.

    Thanks, all.
I'll have the laptop at mine at some point to investigate further. Since I also have Voda Fibre, I should be able to compare how it works here.

Just tried her laptop at our house, which also has Voda Fibre, and it connected with no issues. So she's going to send me the logon info for the router, and I can hopefully guide her to ensure the 2.4GHz is also on - I did notice that her lappie used this frequency.
    Fingers whatsited.
