Solicitors letter received for a parking fine I don’t know anything about-

I received a solicitors letter this morning for ‘outstanding parking charge notice’

I was totally unaware that I had a parking ticket & I haven’t received any correspondence prior to this letter.

The location is provided but not the date, I use this car park frequently & pay via my phone.

The letter states the client as ‘Civil parking office Ltd’

It also states, payment should be made within 14 days to avoid legal action from being taken

The outstanding balance is £170

Im unsure which process I need to pursue - can someone please advise?

Ignore the powerless debt collectors letters

Which solicitors   ?  Proper information helps us to help you

Check that your V5c log book is up to date too

Solicitors (unlikely) or powerless debt collection company?

"Civil Parking Office Ltd" are minnow bottom feeders. Wouldn't surprise me if they just sent out the £170 demands and didn't bother with any previous letters. Why charge £60 when you can send out £170 demands instead?

Ah that's just a £170 threatogram from UCS in fact. No solicitor is involved. Ignore it. Come back if you get a LBC or a Claim Form.

But please stick around to respond with us (individually) to the Public Consultation which is now open for August.

What parking operators do is is a national disgrace and a drain on Society, in terms of money and anxiety. If you want to be part of the push to change things in future, it's very important that people like you tell the Government that:

    a) you have no faith in POPLA or the IAS and that there must be a SINGLE APPEALS SERVICE that people trust. The sector is crying out for an independent and impartial appeals service - not two involved in a race to the bottom - that will give a real option to resolve disputed cases out of court.

b).  THE ENRICHMENT OF 'DEBT RECOVERY FEES' MUST BE COMPLETELY BANNED. CASES ARE NOT SOLVED BY DEMANDING MORE MONEY AND OFFERING A 'PAYMENT PLAN' THAT ONLY THE VULNERABLE PAY. DRAS LIKE UCS (MASQUERADING AS SOLICITORS) MAKE NO MONEY IF THEY HANDLE DISPUTES IN THE SPIRIT OF THE APPEALS CHARTER, WHICH IS WHY THEY ALWAYS PLOUGH ON TO COURT CLAIMS AND CCJs, RATHER THAN OFFERING REAL RESOLUTION AT PRE-ACTION STAGE. THEY OFFER NOTHING, NO LEGITIMATE OPTION TO KEEP THE CASE OUT OF COURT IS IN THE £170 THREATOGRAMS.

c). Tell them about your experience and the stress and anxiety these high demands cause.

Responses are invited to the Consultation now:
