I've got a Virgin ISA maturing in a few months' time - which option should I be using? Sort code is 08-60-64. Never realised when applying that Virgin were such a pain with their split personalities and multiple different login systems!
That'll be Clydesdale/Yorkshire and should appear in the same app/online account as any current account you may have with them. If it's one on the old Northern Rock system it'll need a separate login from any current account you may have.

Thanks. My current account and regular saver are on an 82 sort code though, completely separate login. Very confused!

I believe it is the Northern Rock, the same one as mine.

I called Shawbrook today to clarify this point and the advisor confirmed that I can add another £20k in the upcoming tax year(s).

Initially, she added that I can also transfer-in previous years ISAs/contributions from other providers into this 5 year fix ISA in future tax years, but she later corrected herself when I pointed out the 14 day rule.

Not sure what to make out of it, as I am now doubting the information she gave.
If I remember the rules correctly, you can transfer in funds at a later date but only 'at their discretion'

Yes and I have done this in the past, a few years ago now.

As they say though: past performance is no guarantee for the future...........

I opened a Shawbrook fixed ISA earlier this tax year with transfer in from Zopa. I later asked if I could transfer in another maturing ISA, but was told no. Not surprised really as rates had gone down by then. I have another ISA maturing shortly and messaged them asking if I could open another ISA this year with them to transfer in (no new money for this tax year). I was told that I would be unable to open online, but they could open one for me if I messaged them all the details for transfer in.

Details of message from Shawbrook agent:-

We can confirm that you’re unable to open another ISA account yourself, as you have already opened one this tax year. However, we can open a new ISA account on your behalf, and you will be able to submit a transfer-in request to it as well.

If you would like to transfer an ISA from other provider to your Shawbrook ISA then we may be able to arrange transfer electronically.

This depends on who your provider is. Please can you reply to this message to confirm:

    • the name of your ISA provider
    • the ISA account number, sort code, or roll number from this provider
    • the amount that you want to transfer
    • whether you're transferring the full balance or part of the balance
    • if the amount the you're transferring contains any of this year's allowance. If it does, please tell us how much
    • if the ISA you're transferring has a notice period. If it does, please tell us if you want to wait until the notice ends or transfer immediately

If you wish to transfer in funds from other ISA provider into Shawbrook, please provide us the below details so that we can open a desired ISA account for you on your behalf.

We can open a new account for you over the phone or by message.

If you would like us to open an account for you, please tell us:

    • the name of the account
    • If you would like to receive your interest annually or monthly
    • If you would like to keep your interest in your Shawbrook account, or send it to your nominated bank account
    • The details of the nominated bank account you will use to move money to and from your Shawbrook account

Once we receive the complete details, we will proceed further with your request accordingly.

I opened a 1 Year Fixed Isa on-line this morning along with a transfer request from Virgin Money. When I look at the documents showing the account details it has a place for my signature. I have not received or seen any request that these should be signed and retuned to Shawbrook. Does anyone know if these need to be signed? Many thanks.
Just a word of caution. I had my transfer rejected as i had chosen the wrong Virgin Money option (apparently my ISA account is with Clydesdale though i opened it via VM). Shawbrook were very helpful on the phone and processed it manually.
Ha ha that is exactly what I did. Just saw the letterhead on my paperwork as Virgin Money and went that route. Have sent a secure message so hopefully Shawbrook will sort for me.

Note though that transfers in are only definitely allowed in the first 30? days. After that they are only allowed at their discretion.
Any idea what it takes to convince them to accept a transfer in after the initial period?
I know someone who asked Shawbrook if they could transfer-in a month or two after the fixed ISA account was opened and they said that wasn't possible.
It might depend on which member of the customer service team you get. Given that their own T&Cs, welcome letter etc. appear to contradict each other at times, it's possible that two different members of staff might interpret the rules differently.
The account terms state that "Transfer requests received after your initial account application may be refused" and, from posts on here, it appears they were generally happy to do this beyond the initial 2 week window while interest rates were rising, but (not too unsurprisingly) not since interest rates started falling.

If you're looking to do this then here's no harm in asking of course, but just don't be surprised if they say no.
