Emailed Stellantis yesterday (5/8/2025) regarding Hire Purchase of Citroen in 2008

Having seen Martin's weekly newsletter after the Supreme Court's judgement on car loans and commission I emailed Stellantis (formerly PSA Finance trading as Citroen Contract Motoring) using the template provided  on Martin's website.

I emailed yesterday at 10:51 PM and received an immediate reply thanking me for the query and that they will get touch in touch with me in due course. Soon after at 10:55 PM I received another email from commissiondisclosure@email.stellantisfinancialservices.co.uk :

"After checking our records, we can tell you that we did not pay a discretionary commission to the dealer. Therefore, the guidance and rules announced by the FCA on 11 January 2024 is not applicable to your agreement. You can access the information provided by the FCA to consumers here : www.fca.org.uk/consumers/car-finance-complaints."

I assume the last response as automated response after working through a clever algorithm of checking my record on Stellantis system. I am not sure if this response is accurate or not and whether they have PSA records from year 2008.

I have seen similar response to queries from others. Do I wait for the dust to settle after the recent court ruling and raise the issue again with Stellantis?

It will be accurate, they'll be hauled over the coals if they provide incorrect information.

If you didn't have a DCA product then do nothing at the moment, you are in the system but don't hold out too much hope as Stellantis aren't likely to be one of the companies that charged excessive rates and/or commission.

Its a very simple bit of code.   Its a simple question needing a binary answer.

How many times do you want them to say no to you?

I have also just received the same email from Stellantis re no discretionary commission for 3 car purchases.
This follows an original email they sent me back in February 2024, advising they would look into my claim. Don’t understand why they didn’t just advise me in 2024 that the car company had not paid discretionary commission!
The original lender was PSA but this merged to form Stellantis. I assume they checked records originally held with PSA??
wonder if worth now going through a claims company as something is better than nothing

They were likely checking records and also needed to wait for the other commission cases to finish

How would a claims company get money when they use the same process you do and you were already told you were not affected? At worst, they will charge you when they find out you already raised the case and were told you had none.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Lenders have been building the software to allow them to respond quickly to enquiries where no DCA existed.    When you complained that software wasn't available, it had to be done manually.  So, anyone contacting them after the software was in place got a quick reply.  Anyone contacting them before it had a much slower reply.

Why do you think a claims company will change the outcome?   All CMCs do is use the same process you have used.     Like it said on the thread earlier,   how many times do you want them to say no to you?
