Think my new neighbour is selling cars from his drive. Can he do this?

    No you were completely reasonable.
And don't mention 'if they'd asked ' because that will happen and you'll have to say no which again is reasonable but would lead to poor feeling on both sides.
    Thank you.
I haven't had any come back so that's good. It's too late for them to ask. I just wanted the builder to know they l have never spoken to them so, therefor they had never asked so if they said the neighbour was ok with it they weren't telling the truth.
He did run inside yesterday when we were on our way out so don't think he will be speaking to me any time soon but am sure he saw me talking to another neighbour who was passing at the same time.

Oh well. Thinking that renovating the house would stop the sales for a while was stupid. Next car for sale has just arrived (know it is for sale because l found it on Auto trader), Just waiting for the buyer to arrive on my drive any moment.

I remember a tip when buying cars, in order to see whether the seller was a private seller or a trader, was to ask about "the car you have for sale", rather than "the blue 53 reg VW Golf you have for sale". The theory goes that a private seller will only have one car; a trader will have to ask which car you mean.

This may not help in your situation, but if you spot a car on Autotrader you could ring up the number as a prospective buyer and see what reaction you get? (Obviously, if they do only deal with 1 car at a time, then it wouldn't prove anything if they know the car you are ringing about, but a reply asking "which car?" would be fairly conclusive the other way).

Have you checked the MOT or road tax status?
Are they being driven away or trailered?

We have managed to check a few.  The ones we did check weren't taxed but had MOT.
Almost all were taken for a test drive and many were driven away. Only 2  have been taken away by trailer.
When we checked after they were driven off some did have tax so am guessing the person who bought it had taxed it but could be wrong.
The one they brought the other day is now parked on a side street and that is not taxed. Fingers crossed the people on that street report it.

And why can't you report it?
