Moorside "Letter Before Claim" without details or response time

Hello all,

I received this "Letter Before Claim" a few days ago relating to a very old parking charge (2020). I did not pay it and have been ignoring the debt collectors (location was Waterside Inn Leamington Spa, which was closed during covid).

It does not contain any information about the charge or purported infringement, and does not request response within a set time. As I understand this is in breach of pre-action protocol. I have searched the forum but not found any examples of a Letter Before Claim that is this sparse.

Should I consider this a genuine Letter Before Claim even though it has no response time and reply to it as described in the newbies thread?

Many Thanks

Jamie

Yes it is a LBC, of sorts. Same as this one:

Your username has made me smile today - and I can't say why because it's a personal thing!

     :D

Anyway, that's a new letter and I thank you for posting it. Shocking lies about additional costs being added "BEFORE A CLAIM IS ISSUED", in bold there!

Did you know that the President of the BPA (Trade Body) is also a Director of APN Group (Trace Debt Recovery and Moorside Legal)?

It is an astonishing conflict of interests, akin to Will Hurley's efforts when he astonishingly got the DVLA to let his firm, Gladstones solicitors become a second Trade Body.

I'm horrified by the lie about costs in this letter. Will be using it for evidence for the Public Consultation.

And if you want to be part of the push to change things in future, it's very important that people like you tell the Government
about your experience and show them that letter please, pointing out the BPA President (Mike Marrs) conflict of interests and the LIES about added costs 'before court' over and above the extortionate £170.

You couldn't make it up - but Mike Marrs' company has...

We will discuss it on that thread next week if you want to know what issues we think are important.

  • Thank you, much appreciated I shall reply as per template and await further action.

    Their behaviour certainly stinks!

Absolutely I will contribute to the consultation, I'm keen to do my bit to disrupt these scams in the future.
  • Hi all,

I have received this same letter. Shall I reply using the template in part 2 of the newbies thread? There is no email address available so I will have to print a letter and send it off by post.

    Any advice appreciated.

    Many thanks

So they are still using that letter, lying about more costs being added on top of the already abusive £170 before a claim is issued.

Do start your own thread for advice.
