How to help someone sort finances in the event of death

By far the highest risk on holiday is to rent a motorbike, scooter, pedal cycle or walk where crossings and pavements are inadequate. Also avoid adventure sports such as quad-biking, swimming in the ocean, trekking, “budget” boat tours and unregulated animal safaris. Good luck, eveyone.

*sigh*
I worry for anyone who thought I really believed the plane would fall out of the sky.
I'm sure some or even most 'got it' but for those who somehow missed it by a mile....
This (flying) was only a trigger to make me think - best get something in place because you never know when.
I stand by what I said - it's not impossible. Just ask the families of those who died when they were probably also told it likely won't happen. But yes it's unlikely.
But that's all it was, a trigger to say I really should get something in place.
It could've just as easily been getting ran in to on those country roads by a lunatic driver but then I guess some wouldn't have poked as much fun at that because it's more likely to happen.
The what as to what triggered is irrelevant.
The fact I need to get something in place surely even the most awkward member won't dispute that.
But then again.
And the what as to what triggered that thought is in my opinion irrelevant. No matter who wants to latch on to it more than the actual need to get it sorted.
Whatever gets people's thanks count up eh?1 -

I'll tell you what I've done:I have a will. It is 25 years old and could probably do with updating but it is broadly OK.My pensions, which fall outside the scope of the estate, have nominated beneficiaries. In my kitchen there is a sheet of A4 pinned up which states who to contact, the location of my will, the names of institutions with which I have accounts (no account numbers etc, I know from doing probate for my dad that's all that's needed when speaking to bereavement teams to kick the process off), and information about how I would like a few personal items disposed of.and that's it. I should probably get an LPA drawn up as well at some point to save my brother the faff of dealing with the court of protection if it came to that.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230

***My pensions, which fall outside the scope of the estate, have nominated beneficiaries.***Your pensions form part of your estate and the executors would need to declare them0
