Travel insurance refusal

I've read the first post a dozen times and if the insurance and holiday company are getting such a confused picture as I am its no surprise there are difficulties getting any response.
Does OP want to claim for cancelling holiday?
Does OP still want to go on holiday, but can't get cover?
Is the refund for the holiday or the insurance cost?
Regardless, if more tests are needed getting any insurance will be very difficult, especially for a possible heart condition. It is now a pre existing condition which may be a source for confusion.Any heart attack/cardiac arrest will need much more investigation.0 -
Something similar happened to a friend. She had a travel policy in place, and had some tests done recently which came back showing low iron and high cholesterol, which they would investigate further. She called the travel insurance company and told them and they promptly cancelled the policy ahead of her holiday this week. She has managed to find a new, more expensive cover, which will not cover anything related to the test results, but I thought having insurance in place was protection in the event of new conditions or test results, I'm shocked they can cancel at their whim0

The policy document will probably state you have to notify them of any new condition and they will reassess if they will cover you.
Waiting for tests mean they cannot sssess the risk of a claim as they don’t have a diagnosis.Companies differ as to what they will cover so you need to read the policy document carefully .
As your friend found out, anything other than basic cover can be more expensive.0 -
The problem with blood tests is that they are simply a snapshot of the situation at the time of the tests. I had a situation where one element was high so another set of tests were done. On the second test the previously high element was back in normal range but a different element was outside normal range. Third test showed both within normal range. If I have reported the situation prior to the third set of tests I may well have been refused cover too.0

- insurance in place with no pre-existing conditions before holiday booked
- then had heart attack out of the blue
- contacted insurer who said they wouldn't cover any further issues while on holiday if OP travelled
- insurer refusing to pay damages for cancellation
I'd ignore the request for a letter at this stage as it's only confusing things.1
