I’ve had insurance through my bank for years. I’ve had a heart attack 2 weeks ago so called to tell them. Were ment to travel in 3 weeks. They won’t cover.
hol company said they will refund if they have a letter from insurance saying they won’t cover.
it was hard going but managed to get a letter but it stared pre existing condition. So hol company won’t refund.
insurance won’t change the wording & won’t accept drs letter as they say will make no difference.

To claim from them they want a letter saying unfit to travel. But I am
fit to travel they are just denying to cover.
all I wanted was a letter, not even to claim through them.

Surely this can’t be right?

Take out cover elsewhere.
Clearly the ins co the bank use does not want to insure you after the heart attack, which is their right.Life in the slow lane0 -
Our packaged bank account cover was cancelled for the same reason. Too big a risk so we had to go to a specialist company for the older traveler.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. There are companies that will cover you for a higher premium. Try stay sure and the post office who have always covered us with multiple medical conditions0

I have 2 different cancer diagnoses and am waiting for surgery for two other conditions along with having other active diagnoses.
I didn’t even bother asking my bank and instead paid for specialist cover, for my family of 5 it cost about £150 for a fortnight. Bonus was I could do it all online, normally it takes hours on the phone.
If the Drs say you can travel then you won’t get holiday refunded, there’s normally always cover available you’ll just have to pay for it:eek::eek::eek: LBM 11/05/2010 - WE DID IT - DMP of £62000 paid off in 7 years:jDFD April20171 -
The issue is they’re saying it’s pre existing it’s a heart attack how can it be pre existing. And I’m only 39.
no one will cover me as I’m still a/w tests. So I needed a letter from them to say so so hol company can refund me as thy said they would.
But ins are refusing.0 -
Your insurance company will have a complaints process: use that, and if necessary take it to the Ombudsman service.
For clarity: were you insured at the time of the heart attack?0 -
Yes had it for years through my bank so I was insured prior to the heart attack, I called to update them of HA & They said they can’t provide cover for anything in re to that.
I wanted a letter from them saying this, but they are saying it’s pre existing. But it’s not cause its happend whilst I had insurance in place & after I booked the holiday.0 -
Is there anything in your medical history that could be related to your heart attack happening?0
-
No, but they won’t even accept medical records, said no point sending. I’ve made a complaint anyway & waiting them getting back to me.

Has the OP asked to speak to a manager at the insurer? Call handlers will not necessarily have access to a letter template which will provide an accurate explanation of the issue.0
