Where can I get advice?

Options
Hi

Years ago, can't even remember when, like 2020 I got a parking ticket in a private carpark. I HAD paid £1.20 for 2 hours and only stayed 40mins. It was a machine you had to put your reg into, so I wrote to the company to explain that I had paid, asked them to check my old regs just in case I'd put the wrong one in, we regularly swap our car. I also requested they check the balance taken that day and check cctv to see me paying. I never heard back from them and life went on then I never thought about it again.  A few months ago I got a notice from the courts that they were filing a claim in court. I wrote back completing the form I need to, stating that I didn't think this was a fair process, I dealt with it the official way to begin with and 4 years later with no former communication you slam a court letter on me. I stated my case as a defence and had a letter on 11th June saying it had been recieved and the claimant has 28days to proceed. After this time it would be stayed. Now this week I recieved a N180 form. Again they have proceeded to take me to small claims without any form of resolution or contact. Where do I stand and who can I ask for support? Thanks in advance

You must have entered a defence and the N180 (DQ) could be from CNBC or from the PPC's solicitor.  You need to go to the NEWBIE/Template Defence sticky as @DE_612183 writes and on the template defence scroll down to here: -
    THE FIRST 8 STEPS:
    and keep reading.

    HM courts sent it

I did enter a defence when I first received it yes as it was out the blue with no warnings of intent from parking company or any legal people.  They have at no point tried to contact me apart from the initial ticket which I replied to as I had legitimately paid. Ill check the thread you suggested thanks

OK, download a copy of the N180 DQ document from the government website and fill it in and email it to the DQ email address for the CNBC in Northampton

Do nothing with any paperwork forms, just file them

Follow the 8 steps in the defence template thread,  steps 3 to 6 for now

On the first page of the forum there are several (six or seven) announcements and they are "sticky" as in they do not move around when people post new threads or comments.  One is called: -
**NEWBIES!! PRIVATE PARKING TICKET? OLD OR NEW? **READ THESE FAQS FIRST!**
    That is the NEWBIE sticky

The defence template thread is the second thread down from the top
