The same reason face book is prolifically successful..... Sheep mentalityjaypers said:Pretty much any and all investment ‘ads’ on Facebook are scams. It never ceases to amaze me how prolifically successful these criminals are in managing to convince people to give them money.1 -
Part of the problem is that there are legitimate investments on Facebook but whether those companies will continue to do so when surrounded by scams is another matter. Ones I've seen recently are for ii, Freetrade, Investec, Chase etc alongside some very suspect ones.jaypers said:
I would like to see someone find a legitimate investment advert on Facebook, and that’s pretty much my point. These platforms should not be allowed to promote these types of product unless they can keep the lid on illegitimate/fake ads. It’s completely out of control.friolento said:eskbanker said:
....because of course it isn't simple at all!jaypers said:
It needs to become regulated whereby social media companies are not allowed to publish material advertising any sort of investment. Simple solution and one I’m sure will never be implemented.jimjames said:
There are repeated ads I see on Facebook and Instagram that have famous names like Peter Hargreaves, Terry Smith, bizarrely Nick Leeson and others using AI generated content to promote schemes. Really find it incredible that these companies are promoting their AI capabilities yet still find it impossible (or maybe lack of will) to actually stop these basic scams.eskbanker said:Although there are frequent warnings on here about the danger of throwing money at schemes promoted on social media, if you're hoping to raise awareness then it would be worth naming names and being more specific....
One of the largest hurdles would be the loss of advertising revenue for FB.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
