Paint protection for a new car

Thinking of getting ceramic coating paint protection for a new vehicle. I'm not looking for flawless, no swirls, all that kind of thing. Just protection for the car being outside in an area with poor air quality and lots of birds. Easier to wash would be nice too.
Been quoted £350 but they didn't say exactly what product they were going to use. Dealer wanted more for GardX but I've heard it's rubbish.
Is that a reasonable price? Any products to avoid/request?

Go to a car detailer not the dealer selling the car. They'll be charging a fortune and making lots of commissionRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.4

As above, a commission making rippoff2

No matter the type of protection, (“proper” ceramic coating is around a £1000, depending on treatment) no coating will stop the damage to paint caused by bird !!!!!!. It should be washed off when seen.Mortgage free

Have a look at getting it covered in clear fablon- nowadays it is called "paint protection film" and has a couple more zeros on the end of the price from when Woolworths used to sell it on a roll.Should provide protection from bird droppings and chem-trail fallout, but only lasts 5 years, then they peel it off, clean and re-apply.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

I’m not sure if the previous poster is serious, but the OP should disregard the advice, however well meaning.
Fablon is nothing like Paint Protection Film for cars. (Apart from sticking to things)Mortgage free

With Paint Protection Film (PPF) you might want to check with your insurer if it is considered an option if added to the car.
There was a long thread on Pistonheads a year or so ago where the poster bought a car with it, didn't tell the insurer (the poster is adamant he wasn't aware the car had it), had an accident and the insurer wouldn't pay out for the repairs because they considered the PPF a notifiable option.
I think in the end after a long battle he did get the repairs paid for.

Your better off with PPF. The whole point of ceramic sealants are they are applied to a perfectly polished surface. It makes the car easier to clean and gives a "wet" look. But won't stop things like bird lime or fallout.0

There is probably a 'get clause' if you claimed !0

My cars have mostly come with Supagard as part of the “free” extras. It’s odd how the price mysteriously drops by 2 to 3 thousand off list, even with useless extras added. The most recent (Nov 24) shows the cost of the paint/fabric treatment as £449.
It doesn’t make a scrap of difference to the trade-in value, when I swapped the older car (which also had Supagard and was 4 years old) last November the dealer didn’t even look at the car, let alone bother about any paint/upholstery treatments.
I personally wouldn’t bother with any paint treatment, it’s like wetting yourself in a dark suit, you get a warm feeling but nobody notices 😂2 -
