Missed Deadline on Letter of Claim from BW Legal for Parking Ticket by 5 days- what should I do?

Options
I received a letter of claim from BW Legal relating to an unpaid parking invoice in early 2022. I have missed the deadline by 5 days. I do not have much of a defense, the car was simply parked in a car park at night and driver had no change to pay.

Up to now I have simply ignored letters. At this point, I would probably just pay the £160 as I do not know how I would build a defense in these circumstances.

Does anyone have any advice? I've really dropped the ball here, I am stressing out and not sure what the best route is at this point. Thanks in advance.

The defence is already written for you in announcements near the top of the forum by coupon mad

    Do not pay  !

Just wait for them to send you an N1SDT court claim pack from the CNBC in Northampton using MCOL,  by post

Then come back to this thread for further information and assistance

Which parking company   ?  UK CPM  ?
  • Thank you for the reply. I have seen that it is usually advisable to respond to them at this point, but as I have missed the deadline do you not think this is worth it?

    It is Norwich Traffic Control.

Email B W Legal if you want,  your choice,  but it wont change anything,  the juggernaut is already moving, coming your way  !  ( at most it will delay the court claim   )
  • Fair, appreciate the replies. I'll email anyway. Cheers

Why are you taking their made-up deadlines seriously? Obviously reply. Just do it anyway. The timeline doesn't matter.

But don't show us their reply. Please don't. We really do not need to see these replies again!

Please also stick to replying only on your first thread next time you have an update. We need the context please.

    Let this thread die.

Secondly, more pressing right now because nothing important is happening re your case this Summer, we need you!

If you want to be part of the push to change things in future, it's very important that people like you join us to reply to the new Public Consultation, to tell the Government NOW that:

    a) you have no faith in POPLA or the IAS and that there must be the SINGLE APPEALS SERVICE that the Parking (Code of Practice) Act 2019 *almost* promised. As long as it is independent (and only ONE appeals service, not two involved in a race to the bottom) that will give a real option to resolve disputed cases out of court.

b).  THAT THE ENRICHMENT OF 'DEBT RECOVERY FEES' MUST BE COMPLETELY BANNED. DISPUTED CASES ARE NOT SOLVED BY A THUG THIRD PARTY DEMANDING MORE MONEY AND ENGINEERING A POINTLESS 'PAYMENT PLAN'.

c). Tell them about your experience and that your case proceeded to a claim precisely because (a) and (b) above mean there is no option, no safeguard for consumers EXCEPT court.

Responses are invited to the Consultation now:

Do it in August pleeease! We will discuss it all in more detail in the coming weeks on that thread.

  • Thanks Coupon-mad, the deadline on this one had me stressing but I see now it's the same rubbish as the previous correspondence. I have emailed using the template in the newbies thread.

Now filling in a response to the Public Consultation. Thanks for directing me there.
