Vodafone shopping voucher incentive scam

When selecting a new broadband provider do not base your decision on the promise of receiving a shopping voucher after 120 days as an incentive if you sign up with Vodafone.
I changed from my previously excellent BT service in February and, of course, no voucher to date. I spent what seemed like hours on the phone trying to find someone who knew what I was talking about and was eventually directed by Vodafone to a some third party, but they don't seem interested either.
BT was dearer but as ever, you get what you pay for.

I've used these offers multiple times (including Vodafone twice) and have never had a problem with receiving the vouchers.

As I believe the tracking is cookie based, tracking issues can occur when the offer is not redeemed by clicking on the correct affiliate link, or if your cookies are cleared part way through the sign up process, or if the process is not completed in a timely manner, some even suggest you can't leave the webpage.

Do you know who was processing the promotion? I suspect it might have been Giftcloud - if so, I received the below email at the same time as I placed my order with Vodafone using the link at the end of last year.

The issue is usually where there is no tracking confirming use of the promotional link. This suggests you can reach out to them to look into: https://giftcloud.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/articles/35038800110353-My-offer-wasn-t-tracked

But generally with giftcard providers, they state they will not honour untracked purchases (to prevent Hindsight Henry and other vodafone customers from falsely claiming they signed up for the promotion).

    Know what you don't

Agreed. I've done this three or four times and have always received the voucher.
My current switch to Vodafone was in late March, so I'm hoping to receive my Giftcloud voucher in the next week or two.

  • Thanks Exodi, I had the sign up confirmed banner which left me confident it would be processed.
After much chasing Giftcloud, I have finally received my voucher together with an apology.

As it happens, I'm now chasing Giftcloud myself as the 120-day date came and went without them sending me my voucher code :(
They've sent my details through to Vodafone, and say I should hear back eventually. Will let you know how it goes.

I can even confirm it still works when it's a combined offer - I've had more than one offer with cashback with a cashback website and a giftcloud voucher or other incentive from the new supplier.  So there are two different companies tracking, and both have always worked. I've never ever had to chase up either if there have been more than one.  I always make sure I complete the order quickly and in one session as previous posters have said.
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)

No scam here plenty of fools being scammed to compare to. We all should know by now what a scam looks like.

I've had these offers for at least a decade and I've always had my money (or the last one moving to Plusnet through MSE I think, I got a £100 pre-paid card).

Giftcloud emailed today to say Vodafone have confirmed my eligibility and they'll be sending my code through within a few days.

Just to close this, I received my code yesterday and have now credited the £145 voucher to my Amazon account.
(Various retailers were offered but Amazon was better for me.)
I will happily do the same again in 24 months time :)
