Vodafone Broadband early termination charges

Options
Hi there,

so my 24 month contract for Full Fibre 2 is due to expire on the 1st August, I know it takes about two weeks to activate the service with a new provider after I cancel,  is it worth cancelling the contract now as I will be paying about 40% more a month until my new provider takes over the contract (but then I will presumably be hit with early termination fees from Vodafone) or for the sake of a week allow the contract to expire on the 1st and then just move provider and take the hit on additional rental charges from Vodafone for 2 or 3 weeks?

Don't cancel your broadband with Vodafone as you can't switch provider due to a "stop on the line" or words to that effect.

If you do a switch today you will be ok.

Any reason for a new provider?

If no reason you could call they and see what offers they have to renew again.

I can get it cheaper elsewhere basically, there's incentives on price comparison websites for new customers where you can get £100 plus vouchers for switching which takes the overall actual price of the new contract down to far less than Vodafone will be able to offer me.

Have had this beef with numerous other previous broadband providers, that they offer incentivised deals for new customers but nothing for existing ones.

I'll phone them up anyway as your suggestion but they will have to offer me what they are offering to new customers for me to stay which historically they said they can't. Or won't.

Full Fibre 2 , so presumably you have FTTP , is this on Openreach ?, who are you intending to switch to and is it over the same network or a different network ?
If your minimum term expires 1st August, that’s only 5 days , then you are already past the ideal point , but anyway you simply advise whoever you want to use to provide you with service, they serve notice to  VF on your behalf ( via the One Touch Switching process ) ,
If for example they can switch you on the 4th August then you have switched after the minimum term , so no early termination charges , you will pay for 3 or 4 days at the out of contract price , chances are you will actually be charged by VF for the full month and then refunded for 26 - 27 days , your new provider charging from  the day they take over , obviously the actual days paid to VF will vary depending on the actual date the service is taken over  ….if the same network is reused then the date will be sooner  than if the new provider has to install a new network before they can give you service , Openreach to City Fibre for example.

Yes am currently connected to Openreach, I'm in the process of looking at new broadband providers so no firm decisions as yet but going to do this over the next day or so.
