Broadband price increase

We’re with Now broadband, we re-negotiated a new contract deal in jan 25 for £24 a month for 12 months and we were guaranteed that, that price was for the 12 month contract. After checking bank statement, we found they’ve increased payment to £27 pm. I rang them and was told, they couldn’t do anything about it as it was a national increase.
I feel they have lied as they never mentioned in the negotiation of a price rise. Is there anything can do about it.
I don’t really want to switch, as I don’t want to be tied to a 24 month contract as it will be more expensive.

Usual annual increase, probably in April/May and in line with the contract that you agreed in January.

Now are like Sky (according to a quick search ) and allow customers to leave without penalty if they ‘reject’ the price increase and tell them within 31 days of the notification that they are exercising their rights to leave , that means you need to find another provider etc , otherwise the price increase applies, by not moving you effectively accept the increase…..if the customer representative was less than honest about no increase ( when they clearly do put prices up yearly ) it’s unfortunate that you were misinformed, I dare say they probably were more evasive than down right lying, something like ‘we have no plans to put up prices ‘ isn’t necessarily lying .0

Other providers do exist that provide a fixed price for 24 months but you will pay more for it from the outset.0 -
Mine was exactly the same, there was no communication of the July hike, bar the original contract.
NOW has been a good contract for me for several years, £27 pcm is still a good deal. So I won't be looking for a potential switch until the end of this contract.

Incidentally Now only offers a pultry 67meg £24 p/m + 2 price hikes to £30 p/m, this is what people fail to administer.Thats when likes of BT was paying £44 p/m, TT, Sky etc Feb 2024 were around £29 p/m rising £6 in next 18 months to £35. When i can renew what i have for £25 p/m and have customer service and no price hikes.

If not, you may have to ask for a recording or transcript of the original call, as a Subject Access request. It wouldn't suprise me if they guaranteed the discount for a year, but not the price that the discount was applied to.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
