Calor LPG - HELP!

We have had endless issues with them since we’ve been renting this property 4 years ago.

We will be moving and only just received a completion date so have just informed them.

They delivered gas to us in May (that we never requested) and they want us to pay £1k for that gas because they’re not going to take it back from the tank to reimburse us (again, told us they could do this if we were to move in the future and they’ve removed gas from our tank before upon request when they’ve delivered us incorrect amounts a few times).

The boy on the phone told us their transport people essentially can’t be asked to remove the gas because the next tenants will likely be ordering another full tank so it’s not in their interest to come remove it. To which we said respectfully that’s not our problem what the next tenants do, but that full tank is ours and we don’t need it so please remove it as you previously told us you’re able to do that. He said to ask our landlord to buy it from us! Surely that’s illegal advice, we have no license to sell gas to people?!

Where do we stand with this, absolutely not paying 1k for gas that we haven’t used?!
