TalkTalk will turn off free email services for 100,000s of former broadband customers later this year. If you're no longer with TalkTalk but still have one of its email addresses, your email will stop working completely from 31 October 2025 unless you pay £5 a month (£60 a year) to keep it.

Which why ISP email should never be relied on.3

I've not used a ISP supplied email address since Yahoo mail launched in 1998. It was a daft thing using ISP email as it always tied you in to keeping them as an ISP. I've always advised people against using ISP email, it really is not a good idea.0

Although best not to rely on it, they never do actually seem to turn it off. I've got a lineone address which got taken over by Tiscali and then Talktalk. I've had numerous 'final unless you pay' emails over the years but it still seems to work just fine.0

i had a lineone account years ago. I worked for them when they started doing tech support in the late 90s, that was back when you had to pay a monthly fee for the account but that all changed when the likes of freeeserve started and it went free.
"welcome to lineone.... please note that calls are charged at 50 pence per minute, My names Baz, can i take your username please" lol0 -

I just log in with my lineone email and password. I tend to use it for junky type sites where I don't really want to give my current gmail address but it might be a bit more useful than a throw away address.0
