MSE Credit card eligibility checker -- privacy

It's come to my attention that an email address submitted to MSE's 'credit card eligibility calculator' doesn't merely get used for the purpose of returning the results to the user, but can also find its way to debt collection agencies.

I raised a question about this on the "Credit file and ratings" board here

but it has been rightly noted that this board is more appropriate.

I looked again at the relevant privacy policies, but to be honest I eventually 'glazed over' and concluded that those policies probably provide wide enough cover for just about any propagation of any information supplied.

But, at the time, I imagined that the requested email address (unlike perhaps a physical address) probably wouldn't be falling any further down the rabbit hole than would be necessary to return the calculator's results.

So be warned: don't assume that your email address will stay within MSE, or within MSE plus HD Decisions, or even within MSE plus HD Decisions plus 'some lenders' (unless you consider a debt collection agency to be within that lot).
