South West Water S/c's up by huge amount

in Water bills
Quarterly s/c has gone up from £23 to £38, no doubt inspired by the crooked energy industry and, again, anti-Green as it hits low users hardest in percentage terms. I am just going to pay the unit cost and see what happens, rather go to prison than give these animals any more money.

Destroying one's own credit rating is rather pointless.1

you do realise how fortunate you are to be able to simply turn on a tape and have an unllimited supply of clean fresh water?2

These increases are great news! Finally we are going to start doing the essential work to upgrade and improve the water infrastructure, most of which is decades old and a fair chunk of which dates back to Victorian times. It would have been much better to have taken the hit on bills a long time ago, but better late than never. At last we are now tackling the issues and not just complaing about it and looking for someone to blame. Obviously some will still do the complaining, but at least they'll be complaining about something that's moving us in the right direction.2

I think that proves @mta999's point - I'd rather live in a country where these isolated, unpleasant incidents are so unusual as to be newsworthy, rather than normal.fatbelly said:

....and it also underscores the need to start investing more in the infrastructure.1
